1. Travel on the shoulder season for better deals and fewer crowds.
2. Check the expiration date on your passport. Make a note to renew at least six months before it expires. It is easier to renew than to start over.
3. Get TSA, Clear, and Global Entry. Any one of these programs is good but all three are better together.
4. Pick durable luggage. Use packing cubes or roll your clothes. This takes up much less space than folding.
5. Check the average weather/temperature for the month you are traveling and pack accordingly. Thermals are used for cold weather and sunscreen and flip-flops are used for hot weather. Don’t forget mosquito repellant. You will thank me!
6. Use a credit card designed specifically for travel. You will get perks, points, and lounge access, among other rewards.
7. Download Maps.me. This app lets you download a map of the country you’re visiting for free while using Wi-Fi. Later, it can be used as GPS and recalculated without a cell signal.
8. Plan ahead and know how you are getting from the airport to your accommodation.
9. Always read the reviews of where you will be staying, activities, dining, etc…
10. Buy travel insurance. Don’t worry if something goes wrong when you have insurance.
