1. Take a microfiber towel. It dries much faster than a regular towel and folds up into nothing.
2. Bring a universal power adapter. I have one that is only as big as my palm, and it adapts to 70 countries. I also take a power strip so I can plug in all my gadgets with only one adapter.
3. Pack a small bag with your toothbrush, toothpaste, change of underwear, socks, some cash and your charger that will be with you at all times while you are traveling.
4. Bring laundry detergent so you can re-wear clothes and pack lighter.
5. Put a dryer sheet in your suitcase to keep your clothes smelling fresh. Keep your dirty clothes separated from your clean clothes.
6. Wear slip-on shoes. No one wants to tie and untie their shoes going through security. Always wear socks. You don’t want to have to walk through security barefoot. Ewww.
7. Carry a travel-size pack of baby wipes. After a long flight, go in the bathroom and wipe down. You’ll be amazed how refreshed it will make you feel.
8. Get creative with snacks for the plane. Stay away from salty treats.
9. Don’t exchange your money. Use an ATM for the best exchange rate.
10. Research how the locals dress. If you look like a local instead of a tourist, then no one will bother you.
11. If you have to cancel your hotel, call and move your reservation to the following week. Then after you have your “new” reservation, you can cancel with no problems from their cancellation policy.
12. Hotel lobbies have great bathrooms. Fina a luxury hotel and get a soda at the bar then use that nice bathroom. Many also have free Wi-Fi.
13. Traveling with expensive equipment? Phone, camera, whatever. Put some duct tape on it. No one wants to steal a broken electronic.
14. Be flexible and ready to adapt. Things don’t always go according to plan. Be ready for a new adventure!
