When it comes to traveling, having the right essentials packed can make all the difference in ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable trip. This guide provides invaluable advice on what items are must-haves for any traveler. From packing versatile clothing pieces that can be mixed and matched to save space in your luggage to including travel-sized toiletries to comply with airline restrictions, every detail is covered to help streamline your packing process. By following these essential tips, you’ll be well-prepared for any adventure that comes your way.
- Pack a lightweight scarf or small microfiber blanket for chilly planes. It can be used as a blanket or a pillow.
- Make a “Sleep Kit”. Include an eye mask, ear plugs, essential oils, or anything that will help you sleep in an unfamiliar place.
- Bring a reusable water bottle and fill it up wherever you go.
- Pack a small first aid kit/emergency kit. Fill it with bandaids, antibiotic ointment, a needle and some thread, safety pins, Rolaids, anti-diarrhea medication, and aspirin.
- Bring a universal power adapter. I have one that is only as big as my palm, and it adapts to 70 countries. I also take a power strip so I can plug in all my gadgets with only one adapter.
- Take your portable chargers and extra batteries for your camera.
- Pack sunscreen. Always.
- Charge everything before you leave. Camera, phone, iPad, Kindle, etc…
- Put some plastic bags or Ziploc baggies in your luggage for wet clothes, shoes, etc…
- Dress comfortably. Breathable, stretchy fabrics are your friend when trying to get comfortable on a plane.
- Stash extra cash in small bills in an empty lip balm tube.
- Make copies of your passports/IDs/itineraries. Give a copy to someone at home to keep. Put a copy in your luggage. You can also keep a copy on your phone, but if you lose your paperwork, many places will not accept a digital copy.
- Never throw out any travel-related documents until you return home at the end of your trip.
